Suite for Chamber Winds

Chamber music has always been my first love as a composer and I am delighted to have the opportunity to create a new work for the venerable tradition of wind chamber music. Utilizing a popular instrumentation with some flexibility, I hope to create an appealing and accessible work that could easily sit alongside classic works of the 19th and 20th centuries while utilizing contemporary techniques and language.

Commission Details

  • Lead commissioner: University of Colorado - Boulder Bands, Adrian Holton, organizer
  • Membership limited to ten additional institutions
  • Cost: $300 per member
  • Performance Exclusivity: limited to member institutions from April 23, 2027​ - April 1, 2028
  • Bound, physical score with personal inscription for each institution
  • Parts delivered as PDF files

Work Details

  • Duration: ca. 10-12 minutes in multiple movements
  • Instrumentation: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 horns, 2 bassoons
    • possible doublings for flutes (piccolo, alto flute), clarinet (E-flat clarinet)
    • B-flat substitute parts for second oboe (clarinet) and second bassoon (bass clarinet) will also be provided
  • Difficulty: Appropriate for skilled undergraduate or early graduate students
  • Anticipated Completion: December 2026 or earlier
