2025-26 Consortium Commission for trombone octet or choir
I am excited to announce my largest work for trombone ensemble to date that is based on many enjoyable years of playing with other trombonists myself. Inspired by favorite works for trombone ensemble by 20th century composers such as Serocki, Defaye, Bozza, Jacob, and others, this new piece could serve as a cornerstone of a trombone choir concert and pedagogically appropriate for advancing collegiate and high school trombonists.
Parts and score provided as PDF files for easy reproduction for larger choirs
Personalized score and parts with the name of each ensemble/institution and/or instructor/conductor
Appropriate difficulty for collegiate or advanced high school trombonists
Anticipated Completion: Early October 2025
Performance exclusivity until May 1, 2026
Duration: ca. 12 minutes
Movement I - Fanfare á Quatre (utilizing quartal/quintal harmonies and a brash American style) - ca. 3 minutes
Movement II - "Les Sons et les parfums..." ("the sounds and fragrance of night", using mutes and 1920's French jazz and post-impressionist language) - ca. 5 minutes
Movement III - Marche Octatonique (based entirely on the octatonic scale with aggressive rhythms referencing Bartók and Hindemith) - ca. 4 minutes
