Just got back from a thrilling experience at the International Saxophone Symposium and Competition! There were six wonderful performances of my concerto for saxophone and percussion and ensemble by amazing young soloists from throughout the nation and abroad. Huge thanks to Amy Griffiths and Paul Vaillancourt for including me in this great new event. You can check out the new recording here.
I have been honored once again with the privilege of composing a solo trombone work for Joseph Alessi, principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic and one of the world's greatest trombone soloists. The piece is entitled "Garden of the Gods" and was commissioned by the brilliant young trombone professor Dr. Brad Palmer of the Schwob School of Music. Check out the score and a demo here.
Joe along with Brad conducting his fine choir will be recording the piece this coming January and I can't wait to hear the results! There are several beautiful recordings of the group on YouTube, so check them out. |
