"The Kafka Project" is an amazing new play written and directed by Walt Jones that will recieve its premiere this month at Colorado State University. Walt was kind enough to ask me to write the music and it was a thrilling process. Peter Sommer contributed an original work of his own and performed brilliantly on all of the music. My latest composition "KAFKA - Concerto for Saxophone" is almost complete and you can hear some samples here. This piece will be premiered at the upcoming Aries Composers Festival this November.
My good friend Peter Sommer will be performing "Sheets of Sound" for tenor saxophone and digital audio at the upcoming Electronic Music Midwest conference held in Kansas City, September 30 and October 1. This will be the fifth major conference performance of the piece since it was premiered back in 2009. Head to the electroacoustic page to here a recording.
My 2008 work "Duke Front Five" will be performed on August 7 by 10th and Broadway Clarinet Quartet at the International Clarinet Fest. This young group of clarinetists commissioned the work and have performed it many times over the past few years. Congratulations guys, and good luck!
The renowned World Youth Wind Symphony will perform "Octarine Spark" July 16 at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. This group is widely considered one of the best high school bands in the world and will be under the baton of Dr. Robert Rumbelow, director of bands at the University of Illinois.
